1:1 Learning

1:1 learning initiatives have the potential to transform education by providing students with access to personalized learning experiences and preparing them for the digital age.

  • Deer Lakes 1:1 initiate supplies each student in grades K-12 with their own device for use during the school day and at home. Providing a device for each student ensures equal access to needed technology, learning materials, and real-time engagement activities in the classroom

  • Students in K-1 will use iPads. Students in 2-12 will use Chromebooks

  • There is no cost for the chromebook or iPad. However, the students primary guardian will be responsible for any costs associate with the device or loss of the device.

  • School-issued devices, just like textbooks, lab equipment, etc. will be required for students to be successful.  At school and at home students will be using many computer based applications for their learning, therefore a device will be required.

  • Students in grades 6-12 can take their devices home. Students in K-5 will keep their device at school. During incliment weather season K-5 will be allowed to take their device home in-case of a FID Day.

  • No. Students are not permitted to personalize the Chromebook or carry case. Devices or carrying cases that have pencil/pen/magic marker writing on them, stickers or other markings on them will be viewed as vandalism. There will be an associated cost to restore the laptop to the original condition if marked up intentionally.

  • Please report to the technology department as soon as possible. If your device is damaged, we will evaluate the damage and determine what is necessary for proper operation. If repair is needed, we will fix it. If it needs to be repaired, we will make every effort to loan you a device to use until it's returned. Under no circumstances should you or anyone else take the device to a third party to try to fix it. District provided laptops are the property of the school district and district personnel will fix related problems.

  • Students are expected to bring the device to school fully charged. Classrooms will be equipped with locations for plugging in some devices for charging.

  • The technology department at each building has a small supply of “day loaner” devices that can be checked out and returned at the end of each school day. If the student has multiple incidents of forgetting their device disciplinary actions may be taken.

  • The Technology Department will have laptops avaiable for distribution in your students Homeroom or 1st period class. If your student is absent on the day of distribution or a device is not avaiable your child should go to the Technology offices.
